National Student Survey 2023 is now open!!

The National Student Survey (NSS) 2023 is now open! All eligible students will have received an email with a link to the survey from market research company Ipsos, who run the survey. Please do make sure if you have had the invite that you share your views.

The NSS is UK wide and is a great opportunity to reflect upon your learning experience and speak out about all the positive aspects of your journey as well as anything that you’d like the University to improve. The NSS is carried out anonymously so you can be as frank in your feedback as you like.

Your opinions are important to us at The Open University (OU). They help us to continually improve the student experience. Previously, we used student feedback to review module content and tutorial provision, to improve our communications and to provide more opportunities for you to be involved in the OU community. We have also developed additional guidance and support for you to stay on track with your studies. In line with the values set out in the OU Student Charter, we have worked with students from across the nations to introduce new support tools and make improvements to the digital student experience. Your responses to the NSS and other feedback opportunities really do make a difference!

Why should I take part?

  • The NSS provides you with the opportunity to provide honest feedback on your whole student experience, not just your latest module.
  • Your feedback will be used to improve the overall student experience at the OU.
  • The results are taken very seriously and used to enhance the quality of our course materials and delivery.
  • Results are used by prospective students, their families and advisors to make decisions on what and where to study.
  • Respondents can enter a prize draw to be in with a chance of winning one of twenty £50 Amazon vouchers.

What happens with the results?

The NSS results help prospective students, their families and advisors make informed decisions about where and what to study. Both The Open University and The Open University Students Association actively use the results to improve the student experience. Data from previous surveys are available via DiscoverUni.

What next?

If you are eligible to participate in the survey, you should have received an email invitation and possibly some reminder. If you haven’t seen any communications, you can check if you are eligible and take the survey at the following link.
