Student Consultative Meetings 2020
During March 2020, 12 Student Consultative Meetings were scheduled, including nine face-to-face and three online events. The topics for discussion were tuition and communications with students - the University was keen to get feedback from students in order to make improvements to the student experience in these two key areas.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic and following the University’s and government guidance, six face-to-face meetings unfortunately had to be cancelled, with only the meetings in Glasgow, Birmingham and Leeds going ahead. The Student Consultation Office, working in partnership with the OU Students Association developed online alternatives including two online forums, two Adobe Connect sessions and an online mapping activity, which ran until mid-April.
The online alternative Adobe Connect sessions were co-hosted by a tutor and a student representative, and it was great to be able to bring people together, especially in these unprecedented times.
A total of 262 students took part in the consultations in total. A huge thank you, to each and every one of you.
Staff are now analysing and assessing the feedback to work out what changes need to be made and to decide on future work priorities. A full response will be published to students later in the summer to show what impact has been made.
