National Student Survey (NSS) results are in!

Thanks to everyone who took part in this year’s NSS – the results have been published, and they show some really positive news for the OU.

Positivity is up across all themes, with the OU scoring higher than the sector average in most areas.

Highlights include:

  • 89.2% positivity for Assessment and Feedback –8% above the sector average
  • 90% said their course was well organised – 12% higher than the rest of the sector
  • 92.8% praised how engaging teaching staff are

We’re especially pleased to see improvements in areas like clearer communication around mental wellbeing services, acting on student feedback, and the academic representation offered by Open SU.

Your feedback via the NSS helps us improve, holds us accountable, and gives future students a better idea of what to expect. It also strengthens the value of your OU qualification.

And what you tell us continues to make a real difference. In last year’s survey, you highlighted the need for greater transparency around marking criteria. In response, we’ve introduced a new policy to make sure that marking criteria are clearly and consistently available on your module website before you begin your assignments. This is now being rolled out, so if you’re not seeing it yet, you will soon.
