Would you like to get support for a project that would benefit other students or the Open University? Find out about the Student Partners Scheme.
Do you have an idea for improving the student experience at the OU? Our Student Partners Scheme exists to give you the chance to turn your bright ideas into student projects that have a real impact. And you get paid!
So, if you have an idea for a mini-project that you would like to implement then this is the opportunity for you. Projects designed collaboratively by students and staff that focus on enhancing student engagement will be especially welcomed, but read our guidance document below to find out more.
Who is eligible?
You must be registered on a taught undergraduate or postgraduate module, or on a postgraduate research degree, or have been registered within the past 12 months when you apply. You could be an individual student or a group of students or students and staff with a joint proposal. If you want us to try and find a staff member to partner with, we will do that as well, just let us know.
How will it be funded?
Each project can receive up to 15 days (or 100 hours) of funding to develop, implement and evaluate the project and you will be paid throughout the project.
What if you are not sure whether to apply?
If you want to informally suggest a project topic to see whether it might be appropriate or clarify something about the Scheme that isn’t covered in the guidance below, then ask us a question by using the 'Apply' link! Examples of projects that could be considered could be a change to a process, a piece of software, or something specific to a particular module or Faculty that would aid learning or motivation. It could enable idea sharing, data sharing or demonstrate a particular concept that others find difficult to understand. It could simply be something that makes studying with the OU more fun and lead to more socialising! You know what you think is missing, can that be turned into a project?
How can you apply?
If you have a clear idea of what you want your project to achieve, have a plan for how you will use the funded time, and are able to explain this on the application form, applications are now open. You need to have identified other members of the team (or we can help in trying to find you a partner). Click on the box below to apply.
