QAA Value for Money Project

The Quality Assurance Agency is running a survey for students on value for money.

Ensuring value for money in higher education has in recent years become an increasingly urgent concern for students, their families and the general public, and a strategic priority for tertiary regulators across the UK, as well as a key policy consideration for the Department of Education and the governments of the devolved nations of the UK. These survey responses contribute to an evidence-base which will inform a policy briefing which will be presented to higher education sector decision-makers. Quality Assurance Agency

Student Consultation Online Forum: Thank You and Upcoming Forums

We are super grateful for everyone who has been engaging in our recent Student Consultation Online Forums - we've been super busy!

Look out for the summaries of the recent forums being published very soon.

After the current forums close, we will be taking a short break over May for exams and EMAs. We'll be back with new forums in June!

Student Consultation Meetings: Thank You

We loved seeing so many students at the Student Consultation Meetings across the four nations and online in early April. Hundreds of students had the opportunity to discuss the AI Digital Assistant, Making Student Support Services Esaier to Use, Tutorials, SST and Tutors with the OU Students Association, Student Charter, Higher Education Funding in Ireland, and the Race Equality Charter.

We are now analysing all your ideas and feedback and will be producing a summary of the feedback soon. We are also beginning to work on your ideas and making positive changes from them. We aim to report back on what we've done with your feedback later in Summer.

Languages and Applied Linguistics; Periodic Quality Review

The School of Languages and Applied Linguistics at the OU is undergoing a Periodic Quality Review (PQR). The PQR, which takes place every six years, is a process through which modules and qualifications are reviewed by an independent panel consisting of two OU staff members, one OU student reviewer and one or more external reviewer(s). This forms part of the University’s quality assurance and quality enhancement activities. The review panel would like the opportunity to meet with a few of our students who are studying Languages and Applied Linguistics to learn more about the quality of their experience. An overview of topics the panel would like to discuss / questions they would like to ask will be shared for consideration ahead of the meeting. This one-hour meeting will take place online using Microsoft Teams on Wednesday 4th June at 17:30-18:30

Any feedback you provide to the review panel during the review event will be anonymised before being shared with the School of Languages and Applied Linguistics and will be used only to improve the student experience and the performance of Languages and Applied Linguistics modules and qualifications.

If you’re interested in participating and are available at the time of the meeting, please email aqs-mailbox@open.ac.uk with the following information:

  • V Full name (including title)
  • Personal Identifier (PI number)
  • E-mail address
  • Area Representative - Scotland
  • BQualification currently studying towards

As a thank you for their time, students who attend the meeting will receive a £25 voucher after the event.

We look forward to hearing from you!
