You disliked tutorials that seemed to repeat content without the opportunity to gain deeper understanding of, and that you didn't have enough time to ask questions in tutorials

The Director of Teaching (DoT) and Director of Student Support (DoSS) is working with academic colleagues to ensure best practice in tutorial provision is a key element of staff development with ALs/tutors, and that the SSGS Associate Lecturer (AL) best practice guide (written in 2020/21 for use by ALs/tutors from Autumn 2021) is widely disseminated.

We did...
Director of Teaching has liaised with Associate Dean (Teaching and Students) regarding the FASS teaching model and its ongoing development and the continued role for books within this, and online teaching materials that are interactive and specifically designed for the VLE.

We did...
These now form a part of the new FASS tuition policy, with a tutor group tutorial at the start of modules. Many modules have now gone beyond that to offer tutor group drops in alongside larger cluster events

The Director of Teaching has liaised with curriculum managers and module chairs to ensure that all links were fully checked before sign off of module websites.

That student notes for TMAs/EMAs sometimes had errors in and were overlong
We did...
A new policy of recruiting an Associate Lecturer per module team was put into place for 21/22 and part of the role requirement is for reading of student and tutor notes.

The print on demand service/paper copies of online content for students with disabilities was welcomed by those students who used it but there were some quality issues over their delivery

The DoT has raised this issue with relevant colleagues to ensure that the quality of what we provide for this service is as uniform as possible

That to be useful, collaborative working had to have a clear rationale and add value to the student experience
We did...
The Director of Teaching has fed this back to the faculty and emphasised to module teams in production the need to explain and fully integrate any collaborative skills work into modules, so they both add value and are relevant to assessment and the student journey.

You were not aware of the full range of employability resources available on the Arts and Humanities Study website.
We did...
We have made resources more visible on module websites with links in study planners and under the ‘Resources’ tab. Resources will also be flagged up in the various ‘enhancing your career’ forum threads on discipline forums and on module welcome forums. When new resources become available, they will be advertised via news and forum postings on module websites and the Study website.

We did...
There are student stories available on this page of the Arts and Humanities subject site: https://learn2.open.ac.uk/course/view.php?id=207009&cmid=1611061. We will continue to add to these stories so that they cover a greater range of disciplines and a wider variety of employment experiences following graduation.
